Thrust Roller Bearing

Thrust roller bearing is bearings used to withstand pure thrust or axial loads. Unlike thrust ball bearings, thrust roller bearings use barrel-shaped rolling elements to carry one-way or two-way thrust loads. These rollers are perpendicular to the axis and have different shapes.

Structure and type of Thrust roller bearing

Thrust roller bearings typically consist of two washers, a row of rollers and a roller cage. There are stick runways on the washers. They are available in a variety of designs and shapes. They can be flat, grooved, or tapered. There are several different types of inferential roller bearings. Cylindrical roller thrust bearings contain slightly rounded rollers that work well in one-way thrust applications. Needle thrust bearings consist of long, thin cylindrical rollers in the shape of a spoke. Tapered roller thrust bearings contain tapered rollers for one-way or two-way thrust loads. The tapered raceway matches each side of the roller for smooth rolling motion. Spherical roller thrust bearings contain contour rollers that are arranged at steep angular positions. Spherical roller thrust bearings are self-aligning and can accommodate shaft misalignment.

Thrust roller bearings are mainly used in oil drilling rigs, steel making machinery, hydroelectric generators, vertical motors, propeller shafts for ships, tower cranes, extruders, etc.
