Insulating coating materials for insulating bearings
One of the main features of insulated bearings is a 50-200μm thick ceramic coating on the outer surface of the bearing, which performs the function of electrical insulation and can resist electrical jumping at 1000V, while thicker coatings can resist high voltage discharges above 1000V.
The process is constantly being improved and insulated bearings have a 100μm thick coating on the outer or inner ring surface that can withstand voltages of up to 1000V DC. A special coating process results in a coating of uniform thickness with extremely strong and uniform adhesion, which is then further treated to make it immune to the effects of moisture and humidity.
